Sunday, June 29, will be the last day open for The Juicy Crab.
Elliot Adams, owner of the popular Washington Square seafood spot, announced on its Facebook page Thursday afternoon that The Juicy Crab would be closing its doors “permanently due to unforeseen circumstances.”
“It has been a pleasure to serve this city,” read the post, in which Adams expressed gratitude to patrons for nine years in business, and urged regulars to come visit in its final days. and we are so grateful for nine successful years of business. “So come in, have some signature Juicy special, and tell me a story.”
In another post, Adams noted he only intended to share so many details about the closing via social media, requested the public respect the restaurant’s privacy and further thanked the community for years of patronage.
Per its namesake, the Juicy Crab Augusta’s menu featured robust, Cajun-style seafood boil, with several shrimp, crab and lobster combos.
Is headquartered in Duluth, Ga., where the first location was founded. The nearest Georgia location is now Athens, though 26 of its 40 franchise locations are in the state, with only two in South Carolina, both in Columbia.
The Juicy Crab is located at 2834 Washington Road, behind Hooters.
