The Salvation Army of Augusta to join forces at community event

Date: March 12, 2024

The Salvation Army of Augusta is inviting community groups who serve the homeless to join them at their monthly Connection to Community event on Wednesday, March 13 at 2 p.m.

The Salvation Army has seen an increase in their ability to place individuals and families out of the shelter and into permanent housing through their casework program. Salvation Army was able to place 164 individuals into permanent housing in 2023, and they worked alongside Economic Opportunity Authority’s Marion Barnes Resource and Referral Center with 20 other referral partners.

The Connection to Community event serves as a resource for homeless individuals and aids those in need with casework.

“We invite organizations to join us for our upcoming Connection to Community events,” said Major Jonathan Raymer, area commander of The Salvation Army of Augusta. “Our goal is not only to provide access to essential resources but also to establish a meaningful connection to casework. Together, let’s collaborate in breaking the cycle of homelessness by offering support and personalized assistance to those in need.”

The Connection to Community event takes place every second Wednesday of the month at 2 p.m. at The Center of Hope, 1384 Greene St.

Any organizations interested in participating in this event should contact Derek Dugan at derek.dugan@uss.salvationarmy.org.
