Even with the threat of a thunderstorm, the Thomson community came out to the Thomson Depot Thursday Jan. 12 to show its appreciation for the Bulldogs winning the 2022 AA State Football Championship.
With snacks and live music from the Thomson High School band, friends, fans and families enjoyed an afternoon that culminated with a ceremony for the Bulldogs and a photoshoot for players, coaches and fans with the championship trophy.
The 2022 season for the Bulldogs now joins the 1967-68, 1984-85 and 2002 seasons as the only championship seasons for Thomson, with Coach Michael Youngblood leading the way for the Bulldogs.

For Thomson, the 2022 season was the conclusion of five years of rebuilding by Coach Youngblood and his entire staff, and the players and coaches had the same goal in mind, which was to set players on a path of academic, personal and athletic success.
The Bulldogs did just that, finishing off with a 14-game winning streak after losing their first game of the season to Burke County High School by a score of 24-21. During that span, the Bulldogs averaged an astounding 41 points per game and 233 yards per game.
With these performances, the Bulldogs will look to keep building on their winning ways heading into the 2023 season.
Fan rings will also be available for purchase online at 3rdascent.com beginning Friday, Jan. 13. The deadline to order fan rings will be on Friday, Jan. 20.
