Three suspects sought in Columbia County theft

Date: January 20, 2023

Three individuals are being sought by the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office in relation to an incident at the Martinez Family Dollar.

On January 12, three men swindled the cashier out of $2,000 by using YouTube gift cards from the store, according to the incident report.

“They grabbed six gift cards and proceeded to the register. One at a time they paid for each card in separate transactions, passing the YouTube card to the next subject. The same YouTube card was used by all three subjects to make the purchases. When the YouTube card was swiped it would process like a cash transaction and print a receipt like the card was approved,” the report stated.

The report describes the suspects as Black males who were wearing black hoodies and all black caps while the third wore a black Adidas zipper jacket and black beanie cap. The security video was unavailable.

Any person with information on the identity of the suspects is encouraged to notify the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office.
