Today is Election Day for the general primary and special election. Here’s what Augusta voters need to know.

The Georgia general primary and nonpartisan election is today, May 21. Voters will decide numerous local and area contests, including whether to give Augusta's mayor a vote on all commission items.

Date: May 21, 2024

When voters head to the polls, they will have to pick either a Republican, Democrat or nonpartisan ballot. Depending on which ballot they choose, they may not see every race. Voters who choose a Republican ballot, for instance, will not see Democratic primaries such as Richmond County primaries for sheriff and district attorney. Voters who choose a nonpartisan ballot will not see Democratic or Repubilcan primaries.

All voters will decide a referendum on giving Augusta’s mayor a vote on all commission business.
