Toy gun confiscated from Riverside Elementary student

On Thursday, a Riverside Elementary School student was found with a small toy gun on campus.

According to a district release sent out around 3:38 p.m. that day, administrators were notified that a student had a toy gun and was pointing it at other students on the playground.

Per the release, the toy was immediately confiscated and upon further investigation, no threat was made toward the school, students of staff.

The student is being held accountable according to the code of conduct.

The release urged parents to report any suspicious activities. The Columbia County School District Anonymous Tip Hotline can be reached at 706-541-3600.

The release also said: “please speak with your children about what items are not appropriate for school.”
