For years, “bring the outdoors in” has been popular phrase.
People have been creatively designing indoor spaces while incorporating outdoor furniture and decor. Adding floral and greens brought into the home adds freshness and an organic flavor to your decor.
More and more I have been working with clients who want to reverse this idea and have their outdoor space reflect more of their interiors, and with products that are more weather resistant, there are many more options than there used to be.
Outdoor fabrics used to be mostly rough, colorful Sunbrella type fabrics that looked and felt cheap. Although advertised as fade resistant, they still faded and mildewed quickly.
There are some great performance fabrics that appear to be interior, but work well outside as well. I get so excited about the options, so I have several I would like share some of the fantastic patterns and colors!
There really is something for everyone and it is much easier to find options that will work along with adjoining interior spaces.

Outdoor rugs were limiting and also cheap looking. Now we have some great man-made fiber option rugs that are just as exciting as the fabrics!

Outdoor furniture would break down, rust and had little options when it came to colors and patterns. Outdoor decor, for the most part, looked cheap and plastic. Nowadays, there are new resin and aluminum options that hold up much better than they used to.
In milder climates like ours, we can easily open up the interior of our homes to flow to our outdoor spaces on days when the pollen is snowing down on us.
There are some great options that have become more affordable where windows and doors are concerned. There are some great walls of glass that can open and fold back to open up the entire wall between your indoor and outdoor spaces.
