I love to share actual projects that I have designed and installed, it helps to show how I use the tools I share with you to make the magic happen!
Of course, every project is unique. I truly try and give my client the best fit for their lifestyle and their budget.
We started with my client’s bedroom furniture. The room is large and an oversized bed was in order. My client wanted an upholstered bed, so, the nightstands also had to be of a larger scale. I found chests that worked perfectly within the space, with just the right amount of style and uniqueness.
Sometimes a drawered chest can be a bit boring, so the design on these is really great.

The bed linens were a little old and worn and just didn’t pop, in my opinion. The window treatments were a little sparse.
Sometimes, I do like to use one drapery panel per window, but again, this room was large and needed something more. The wall space over the bed needed something of impact.
Considering there was no theme of style or color, I had to decide, along with my client, where and how to bring that detail into the design. My married clients desired a gender neutral theme. So I was keen to add nothing too masculine or too feminine.
And….here is the result.

We decided to begin the theme with the fabric on an oversized roll pillow. It is an Asian design in colors of blues and green. I found the perfect-sized art to place over the bed, but stuck with a neutral landscape theme in hues of the blue and green. And the rug!
WOW!
It was plush and played well with the color scheme. I made neutral drapery panels and added an extra wide drapery tape in royal blue. Adding a plush neutral bed cover and making three olive euro shams grounded everything.
The original draperies did not come close to the floor and the air conditioning vent would blow air up into the draperies, making them balloon out, which gets annoying.

I crimped the drapery panels onto the floor so that as I folded the edges over, the air could not blow inside the fabric.

A closer look at the before and after the bed and art.

When working on any design in your home, select a pattern and color theme and build upon it. Let the theme make a pop in the room and coordinate other elements that will compliment your main theme.
Don’t overdo it. Keep it simple and sophisticated.
