When you peer into a dining room and look at the backs of the chairs, it can become a little boring. Even the backs of counter or bar stools at a kitchen island can be a little bland.

No matter whether you want to dress things up for every day use, a party or special function or even the holidays, let me show you a few tricks.
Take a table runner and fold it back around 12-15 inches.

Place that fold in between the seat and the back of the chair, letting the remainder of the runner fall over and behind the chair.

Take some twine and gather the runner in the back. Don’t tie it too tight.

Place a sprig or a pick of artificial floral onto the twine. Consider your theme, room color palette or holiday in selecting your floral.

Maybe keep it simple and bend a spray of greens onto the twine.

For a fun party, add your guests initials over the green. Your guests will know where they are sitting and they have a nice gift to take home!

Another way to use the runner is to tie it around the back of the chair. Maybe your chair is a ladder back style and you aren’t able to place the runner as I just showed, so this could be a great option.

Maybe tie a neutral wreath onto the runner.

Christmas is coming soon! Find a festive runner and a fabulous Holiday sprig to really wow your guests!
