Trending with Signature Mike: Console yourself

Almost every home has the need for one. Maybe two….maybe more.

A console, that is.

To quote Google, “A console table is a narrow, elongated table designed to be placed against a wall, often in entryways, hallways, or behind sofas. It typically serves as a decorative piece while providing a functional surface for displaying items or holding accessories. Console tables can be found in various styles and materials, and they are known for their versatility in different rooms and uses.”

That was exactly my point. They can be used in almost any room. We do find them in foyers and hallways mostly. They are a great place to sit your keys as you enter and leave your home. If in a foyer, you could hang a mirror above to check yourself before you leave the house.

If in a hallway, you could make a statement by adding a piece of art above it.

You can find many consoles that are narrow. This helps if you have a tight space in a heavy traffic area.

In a living room a deeper console might work to add decorative items on the surface and secondary seating placed under to use if you have a lot of guests.

A console placed behind a sofa can be a great place for decorative items and assist with covering up the back of a sofa. No one wants to walk into a room and be greeted by the long back of a sofa.

Some consoles are cabinets and offer great storage. They tend to be a little bulkier, so you would need more space for this type.

Consoles can help achieve your theme in a room.

Are you you more contemporary? Try something like this.

Are you living in a more rustic wood-like setting? Maybe this:

More traditional, try this:
