When looking for furniture pieces, usually a person is looking at size to fit a certain space and level of comfort (if seating) and the process of selection is aesthetic, not functional in any way.

I find most times people don’t consider how a piece of furniture can be functional, or maybe even multi functional and still be that right piece that “pops” and adds to the overall decor of the room.

Before you make that final selection, be aware that many furniture wholesalers are creating wonderful furniture pieces that can also give some purpose to your space.

Of course, sleeper sofas have been around for many years. As have Murphy beds; you know the ones, the type that pull down from a wall, but retract back into the wall when not in use.

Take a look at this great console that opens up into a bed. And they offer a great comfortable mattress options.

These fun chairs work really well in a theatre room. You can pull them together to lounge and move the back pillow around to create a sofa or a chaise. In a childs room they can act as chairs or again, pull together to make a sofa, or pull the back pillow off and create a bed for a sleepover.

An ottoman can help relax your feet, hold a tray or it can store your blankets, pillows or children’s toys.

Storage beds are back! Many beds are platform beds not needing a box spring, opening up the space under the mattress for storage!

This mirror makes a bold statement. But open the front and you can store your jewelry.

Think about all of the functions you need your room to fulfill when making a furniture purchase. If you need more storage in your home, search for a piece that has hidden compartments. Considering tiny home living has become popular, storage is golden!
