Three people were shot late Saturday in Aiken, with one of the victims suffering critical injuries, authorities said.
Aiken County investigators responded to reports of gunfire just before midnight Saturday in the 100 block of Kellogg Drive, off Banks Mill Road.
“There were three patients all transported to the ER,” sheriff’s Major Jason Griffin said Sunday. “Two were non-life threatening. One patient went into surgery.”
Griffin said the investigation is ongoing, and another update is expected Monday.
Authorities have not responded to social media posts alleging the shooting took place during a large party attended by teenagers and adults. One unconfirmed post claimed more than 300 rounds were heard by residents in the area and suggested the shooting may have been related to gang retaliation.
