A devastating accident claimed the life of a 56-year-old Warrenville man Tuesday night after he was found trapped beneath a vehicle on a flatbed trailer, according to Aiken County Coroner Darryl Ables.
The call came in at 9:28 p.m. from a residence in the 200 block of Hillvale Street, where emergency responders arrived to find Benny Clayton pinned beneath a truck that had shifted unexpectedly during a move.
According to Ables, Clayton had been preparing to unload the truck from the trailer when it suddenly shifted and fell on top of him. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:05 p.m. from blunt force injuries.
The death has been ruled accidental, and no autopsy is scheduled. The Aiken County Coroner’s Office is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
