No one was injured when a CSX train hit a tractor-trailer in front of Club Car in Columbia County Thursday.
As a train was approaching, a tractor-trailer pulling into the golf car manufacturer paused as the railroad crossing gate came down – landing between the cab and the trailer, the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office said.
The driver was able to get out but the train hit the trailer, a spokesman said.
CSX, which owns the line, sent a statement:
Just before 3 p.m. eastern time, a CSX train came in contact with a truck on the tracks at Club Car Drive in Evans, Ga. There were no injuries to the crew of the train. Columbia County responded and reported a water line break and oil leaking from the truck. CSX appreciates the swift response of the first responders and is supporting local police as they investigate the incident.
