Tuesday’s Music Live is back, but with a few changes.

The biggest change for the longstanding lunchtime concert series is that lunch will no longer be catered and served on site.

Keith Shafer, the series’ artistic director, said several factors played into the decision such as the cost of the food and the fact that a group of older volunteers oversaw the luncheon portion.

“There are a lot of great restaurants downtown,” he said.

What does remain are the short concerts, which have been a mainstay in downtown for decades.

Tuesday’s Music Live enters its 33rd season, opening Sept. 21 with the Con Brio Quartet.

The group is “an internationally acclaimed string quartet comprised of Valentin Mansurov, Marina Lenau, David Pedraza and Aziz Sapaev. Each of these talented, young players has received numerous scholarships and competitive awards. Based in southeast Florida, they perform individually with the Symphony of the Americas, the Palm Beach Symphony, and the Florida Grand Opera. Together, Con Brio is prepared to delight with their skill, passion and energy,” according to a news release.

The noon concerts are held about every two weeks until March 2022 at St. Paul’s Church. No concerts are scheduled for December 2021.

The featured musicians cover a variety of genres including classical, jazz and Russian folk music.

“People like the variety of music,” said Shafer.

Many of the concert series’ patrons are older and appreciate the lunchtime hours because they often are not able to drive at night.

The season series has some returning favorites.

The John S. Davidson Fine Arts Chorale will be featured Nov. 30. Russell Joel Brown, an Augustan who appeared with the traveling production of Disney’s The Lion King for many years and has numerous other credits to his name, will be in concert Feb. 8, 2022.

The concerts are free, and reservations are not necessary.

Shafer said the church is large enough to accommodate social distancing; masks are encouraged but not required.
