Two Columbia County students found with knives on campus

Date: November 04, 2025

Two Columbia County schools notified parents Monday after students were found in possession of knives on campus, according to letters sent home from administrators.

Grovetown High School Principal Andrew Young and Westmont Elementary School Principal Angie Young each sent notices assuring parents that both incidents were handled swiftly and safely by Columbia County School District Police.

At Grovetown High, a student was found with a knife on campus. “The blade was confiscated and secured by Columbia County School District Police,” Andrew Young wrote. “Although there was no threat made, the student is being held responsible according to the code of conduct.”

A similar letter from Westmont Elementary stated that a fifth-grade student was also found in possession of a knife. The item was likewise confiscated and no threats were reported.

Both principals emphasized that safety remains a top priority. Each urged parents to speak with their children about the dangers and consequences of bringing inappropriate items to school or school-related events.
