Two dead in house fire in Graniteville

Two individuals were found dead following a house fire on Taylor Pond Road in Graniteville late Sunday night.

The Aiken County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene at 11:54 p.m. Sunday. The victims were pronounced deceased at 1:08 a.m. Monday. Their identities have not yet been released, pending positive identification and notification of next-of-kin.

An autopsy will be performed in Newberry, South Carolina, to determine the cause and manner of death, Coroner Darryl Ables said in a press release.

The Aiken County Coroner’s Office and the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office are continuing to investigate the fire.
