Two people have qualified for the Grovetown special election in March.

The election is to fill the seat of former council member Dr. Deborah Fisher, who stepped down to run for the mayor seat in the November. Qualifying ended on Wednesday, Dec. 13, and only two candidates, Jacqueline Rivera-Player and Ceretta Smith filed to run.

According to City Clerk Brian Henderson, the election will take place on Tuesday, March 12, 2024. The term being filled will expire on Dec. 31, 2025.

Those who want to vote in the election, and are not registered, must register by Monday, Feb. 12.
