Two unrelated pedestrian deaths under investigation

The Richmond County Coroner’s Office is investigating two unrelated pedestrian deaths.

The first occurred on the 2000 block of Gordon Highway on Friday, Oct. 13 when Annie Doyle, 38 of the 3800 block of Murray Road in Martinez, was struck by an eastbound vehicle on the 2000 block of Gordon Highway, according to Coroner Mark Bowen.

She was taken by EMS to Wellstar MCG, where she was pronounced dead at approximately 10 p.m., Bowen said.

A pedestrian death that occurred on Deans Bridge Road at Georgetown Drive is also under investigation by the Coroner’s Office. Bowen said a male was hit by a vehicle and taken by EMS to Wellstar MCG. He was pronounced dead at approximately 10:30 p.m.

The identity of the second victim is pending next of kin notification, Bowen said.

The Coroner’s Office is also investigating a pedestrian death that occurred on Deans Bridge Road at Georgetown Dr.  The male was struck by a vehicle on Deans Bridge Road and transported to Wellstar MCG by EMS where he was pronounced dead at 10:39 p.m. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Bowen said the two pedestrian deaths are not connected. There is no further information available at this time.

This is the second weekend in a row involving unrelated pedestrian deaths. Last weekend two people were killed in hit and run accidents in Augusta.
