Unclean hands handling food discovered in this week’s health inspection

The health inspection world grades a score below 70 as failing, and one restaurant received a failing score from May 20-23.

Hooters of Augusta, 2834 Washington Road, Augusta, received a failing score of 60. Inspector’s comments included: “observed both cooks on main line not wash hands at several points throughout inspection” and “observed both cooks simply place on gloves in replace of washing hands.”

Other inspector’s comments included: “observed large containers of pickles left uncovered at front line near meat breading area,” “observed Texas BBQ seasoning uncovered in dry storage,” “observed tomatoes, lettuce, and cheese on prep top cooler cold holding above 41 degrees F,” “observed honey mustard stored in RIC with use by date of 5/16/24,” “observed label for sliced steak with ‘use by 5/15’ on front grill line,” “observed mops soiled and improperly stored on kitchen floor,” “observed last inspection posted out of view of the public,” “observed standing water in back prep area near RIC and main line,” “observed debris and clutter throughout kitchen and storage areas,” “observed flies and gnats throughout kitchen.”

The second lowest score was an 86, and it was received by Little Caesars Pizza, 3697 Windsor Spring Road, Hephzibah. Inspector’s comments included: “observed mops improperly stored,” “observed cooking spray stored in container without appropriate labeling—repeat violation,” “observed dust and debris on ceiling tiles,” “observed restroom dirty and trash over floor,” “observed dead cockroach in restroom near handwashing sink,” and “observed fly presence throughout kitchen—repeat violation.”

The third score was received by IHop, 3125 Peach Orchard, Augusta. They received an 87. Inspector’s comments included: “observed TCS food in WIC not being held below 41F” and “observed items in RIC and RIF were uncovered.”
