No charges have been filed against the driver of a truck that struck and killed a pedestrian Monday night in North Augusta.
Tracy L. McCary, 59, of North Augusta, was walking on Edgefield Road around 11 p.m. Monday when she was struck, Coroner Darryl Ables said in a press release. She was rushed to Augusta University Medical Center where she died from her injuries.
Police say McCary was at fault for being in the middle of the roadway at nighttime when the driver of a 2017 Fort F-250 truck struck her. The name of the driver has not been released.
Toxicology tests are pending on the body of McCary.
In an unrelated accident in Evans, a 16-year-old girl was cited Tuesday for failure to yield while turning left after hitting a car with a woman and two children on their way to Greenbrier High School.
At 6:36 a.m., authorities responded to a wreck at Riverwood Parkway and General Wood Parkway. Authorities say 16-year-old Saige Wise was westbound and turned left, failing to observe a a 2012 Toyota Highlander traveling east. That caused the left front corner of the Prius to strike the left front corner of the Highlander.
The three occupants from the Highlander were transported to Augusta University Medical Center while the Prius driver was not transported. The Highlander driver, 17-year-old Bethany Jean Lillie, and front passenger, 42-year-old Monica Cannington, sustained airbag abrasions and the rear passenger, while 15-year-old Allison Lillie, sustained serious injuries.
