A new Chipotle is on its way to Columbia County, the Mexican-style restaurant chain has confirmed.

Chipotle Mexican Grill, Inc. submitted a construction bid to Cumming, Ga.-based CBI General Contractors last week for a 2,400 square foot outparcel at the Mullins Crossing shopping center on Washington Road in Evans.

Annie Gradinger, a spokesperson with the company, confirmed in an email that a new location of the eatery is scheduled to open fall of this year at 710 Province Way, which would put it close to another Mexican grill chain spot in Mullins Crossing, Diablo’s Southwest Grill.

The new site will “feature the brand’s signature Chipotlane, a drive-thru pickup lane that allows guests to conveniently pick up digital orders without leaving their cars,” Gradinger said.

What’s currently the only Chipotle Mexican Grill in Augusta opened in 2018 at 229 Robert C. Daniel Parkway, part of the bustling Augusta Exchange. That’s the same year the Whiskey Road location in Aiken closed, after operating for two years. In 2017, the chain set up shop again across the river, at 362 E. Martintown Road in North Augusta.
