Richmond County authorities say the woman originally wanted in the Captain D’s shooting Monday night was actually a victim.

Tyler Aaron Jones, 20, is being charged with aggravated assault after allegedly firing at De Asia Payne’s vehicle and striking the car and the restaurant at the same time, the sheriff’s office said in a press release. No one was struck by the gunfire.

Earlier Tuesday, authorities said they were searching for Jones and Payne for the gunfire at the Wrightsboro Road restaurant around 9 p.m. Monday. But Jones was captured Tuesday and “admitted to shooting at Payne’s vehicle,” the press release says.

“Employees notified deputies that a male subject fired a gun into the building several times from the parking lot,” sheriff’s Sgt. William McCarty said. “There were several employees inside the building but fortunately no one was struck by the gunfire. The suspect left the scene in a vehicle being driven by a female.”
