A packed shelter has Augusta Animal Services holding a low-cost adoption special in an effort to reduce the number of animals at the facility.
Assistant Director Crystal Eskola says AAS currently has 46 dogs for adoption. Some came from a large hoarding case. There are also 14 cats available for adoption.
“We will be running a special adoption fee of $15 in an effort to reduce the number of animals we have at the shelter – both cats and dogs,” she said. “We are incredibly full and need the community’s help finding homes for all of these loving babies.”

They have another 48 dogs that are completing their stray hold, waiting for owners to claim them. Any that aren’t claimed will also be available for adoption.
Anyone unable to adopt but still wants to help can make a donation from the shelter’s wish list on Amazon.
