The nation’s largest bank is planning its first branch in the National Hills area of Augusta.

Chase Bank is planning to open a new branch location at 2805 Washington Road, an outparcel of the Washington Walk Kroger at the intersection of Washington Road and Alexander Drive.

“Chase is excited to share that we will soon be opening our first branch in Augusta at National Hills in the spring of 2025,” said a spokesperson on behalf of Chase Bank, adding that while it is “still evaluating… plans for growth in the region, we anticipate opening at least four branches in Augusta and the surrounding community, including in Aiken, S.C., over the next three years.”

The new development is part of a plan by Chase, announced in February, to open some 500 new branches, renovate 1,700 existing locations and hire 3,500 employees by 2027. The expansion, a multi-billion dollar investment, according to Chase, entails making footprints in more rural and low-to-moderate income areas.

“Our branches are no longer just transaction centers—they are the place our customers come to make important financial decisions that could impact their lives,” said Meropi Richards, market director of Chase Consumer Banking. “That is why we are committed to bringing our branches to Augusta. We want to become part of the fabric of this community and to help more individuals, businesses and families here achieve their financial goals.”

Chase, headquartered in New York City, has the largest branch network in the U.S., with more than 4,700 locations across 48 states. Formerly called Chase Manhattan Bank, it merged with multinational financier company J.P. Morgan in 2000, becoming JP Morgan Chase, becoming the largest of the Big Four banks in the U.S.—which include Bank of America, Citigroup and Wells Fargo.

The upcoming Augusta location, however, will the first in the CSRA. The closest branches include three in Columbia, S.C., one in Athens, and more than 80 throughout the Atlanta area.
