The University of South Carolina Aiken’s Esports teams are heading back to compete for gold this weekend at this year’s Peach Belt Conference (PBC) at the Division II level.

Affiliated with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the PBC event will be held in Florence, South Carolina at the Florence Center on Saturday, Nov. 2, and Sunday, Nov. 3.

“The students are excited,” said David Morris, coordinator and head coach of USCA’s Esports program. “We have been blessed to go to almost every one of the in-person events and have made playoffs and championships almost every season.”

Twenty students will compete in two PBC titles, “Overwatch 2” and “Rocket League,” according to a press release from USCA.

“It’s the inaugural year for Super Smash Bros Ultimate at the conference,” Morris said. “We have several students who will also be competing in that.”

In 2019, USCA’s League or Legends team triumphed in the PBC.

This Sunday, the Overwatch 2 team, who remains undefeated and has not lost a single game or match, will compete as the top seed against the number two seed – North Carolina Central University, according to a press release from USCA.

“They’ve dedicated countless hours to improving their gameplay,” Morris said.

Earlier this year, USCA hosted the 2024 Esports Peach Belt Conference Championship for “Overwatch 2” and “League of Legends.” The event at the Florence Center will encompass competition and casual play for high school students, college student-athletes and the public.

For those interested in attending the event, tickets must be purchased online as cash will not be accepted at the door.
