The most romantic day of the year is just under three weeks away, and locals can expect to find many events and specials relating to the holiday. The Augusta Press has compiled a list of ways to get ready for Valentine’s Day, from day-of events to gift ideas to girls’ nights.
Date night in Augusta
Couples with a sense of adventure, look no further: a romantic horseback riding experience is being offered at Hilltop Riding Stable on the 14th, with a 15% discount on 1-hour couple’s trail rides when you wear the color red.
Bevs & Bites is an elegant cocktail-style event at Fort Eisenhower, perfect for a Valentine’s date night or a night out with friends. Sample beer, wine, and cocktail tastings from local distributors, which pair with an array appetizers and mini desserts. The event will include a DJ and door prizes. For those ready to party, Unplugged Augusta is hosting a Valentine’s Day Edition with live music by ChaVonne Campbell, TreSounds and DJ Michale Mayhem. The event will be hosted by Brotha Trav. Doors open at 6 p.m. and live music starts at 8pm. Unplugged Augusta is located at 2507 Thomas Lane in Augusta, and those interested in attending should note that tickets are $20 in advance and $30 at the door.
Couples and friends looking for some creative fun can join in on Evans Nailed It DIY’s painting session on the 14th. This session lasts from 6-9 p.m. and participants will create a painting of a vase with flowers on an 11×14 canvas. Registration is available online at www.evans.naileditdiy.com. Cost is $40 per person.
Busy on the 14th?
Pineapple Ink Tavern is celebrating Valentine’s before and after the official date with an exclusive four-course Prix Fixe Dinner from Feb. 12-15. Cost is $75 per person. Country Barn Quilt Co. located at 3905 Roberts Road Unit A in Martinez is hosting a Couple’s Night Out on Feb. 8. At $50 per couple, the event will let participants create their own Valentine’s Day pillowcases. Couple’s Night Out will last from 5pm-8pm.
Gifting ideas
Sheila’s Baking Co. located at 434 Georgia Ave. in North Augusta is offering Valentine’s Day Heart Shaped Doughnuts, available daily for walk-in and online orders. Pre-order online is recommended. These sweet treats are handcrafted yeast doughnuts dipped in customer’s choice of vanilla glaze or chocolate icing; all are topped with pink buttercream flowers.
