The health inspection world grades a score below 70 as failing, however, no restaurants, pools or hotels received a failing score from inspections on Feb. 24–28.
Worst scores in this week’s health inspection
This week’s lowest health inspection score was a 74 earned by El VeraCruz, located at 1077 Stevens Creek Road, in Augusta.
During the inspection, the inspector noted observing food improperly stored, which resulted in a four point deduction
“Observed ground beef stored uncovered in [walk-in-cooler],” the report stated.
The inspector also noted witnessing bug spray being stored in the kitchen.
“Observed Raid bug spray on front line in kitchen,” the report stated. “If pests are an issue contact a pest control operator. Raid is not for food establishments.”
The inspector also deducted a point from the health score for noticing no handwashing sign within the women’s restroom
“Observed no hand washing sign for employees in women’s restroom,” the report stated.
The second lowest score of the week was a score of 76 given to China 8, located at 2492 Tobacco Road, Suite 5, in Hephzibah.
The inspector noted observing the most current inspection score not posted, which resulted in a one point deduction.
“Observed last inspection not posted at initial contact with the manager,” the report stated. “Have most recent inspection posted.”
The inspector also noted a food scoop being improperly stored, which resulted in another point reduction.
“Observed a scoop in white sauce had no handle,” the report stated. “Only store scoops when handle can be out of food.”
The restaurant was also docked four points for seeing foods being improperly stored.
“Observed food in [walk-in-cooler] and table top not being held at 41 Farenheit or below,” the report stated. “Keep food kept at 41 Farenheit or below.”
Following the China 8 inspection, the third lowest score of the week was a 80 given to a Urban Air Adventure Park, located at 207 Robert C Daniel Parkway, in Augusta.
Throughout the inspection, the inspector reported observing no paper towels at a handwashing station, which resulted in a four point reduction.
“Observed no paper towels at the hand washing sink in the front food service area,” the report stated. “Stock all hand washing sinks w/ paper towels. Ensure all hand washing sinks are fully stocked at all times.”
The inspector also noticed expired foods and sauces being improperly stored in the kitchen, and deducted a total of seven points from the facility’s score.
“Observed expired bags of chips in the main kitchen & the front food service area,” the report stated. “Observed multiple containers of sauces stored w/out tops/covers in the main kitchen. Store all food items covered at all times.”
