Robert Lee Jones Jr., 52, was arrested Friday in connection with theft of a moving truck from Coleman Worldwide Moving on Marvin Griffin Road.

Robert Jones Jr. is shown inside Coleman Worldwide Moving on Dec. 19, where he asked for a job and some cash.

Company officials said that the suspect showed up on Dec. 19 asking for a job and some cash to put in his U-Haul truck. They believe he may have swiped a key while at the business, according to a sheriff’s report.

On Jan. 1, video shows the suspect arriving on a bicycle and then walking around the property. He finally got in the 2017 Isuzu moving truck and drove it off the property.

A tracking device showed the truck was driven all over the city for 48 hours before it was parked at Glass Factory Avenue. The company got an anonymous call on Jan. 3 that their truck  was on that road, and it was recovered.

Jones remained in jail on Tuesday without bond on a single count of burglary in the second degree and a hold for other authorities. A charge of auto theft is also expected to be filed.

Jones listed his occupation as a laborer with the state prison, but state records show he last worked for the Georgia Department of Corrections in 2021.
