Voter Registration Deadline Is Today

Date: February 16, 2021

Voters will go to the polls March 16 to vote on the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST 8). For those new to Augusta/Richmond county, the deadline for registering to vote is today.

To register to vote simply go to registertovote.sos.ga.gov or contact the Elections office at (706) 821-2340.

Voters have multiple options for casting a ballot in the SPLOST 8 referendum.

Advanced voting begins Monday, Feb. 22, 2021 in the Linda W. Beazley Community Room in the Municipal Building at 535 Telfair St.

Initially, advanced voting will only be available at the Municipal Building and will only be offered Monday through Friday. Also, advanced voting will not occur the day before the March 16 referendum.

Beginning Monday, March 8, voting will be available in the Henry Brigham Recreation Center, the Robert Howard Community Center at Diamond Lakes, the Warren Road Recreation Center and the Municipal Building from 8:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. daily.

Voters who cast an absentee ballot by mail do not have to provide a reason for voting by mail. In order to be counted, completed mail-in absentee ballots must be received by the Board of Elections Office not later than 7 p.m. on the date of the election.

Polls will be open throughout the county on March 16 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., which is when polls close.

In person voters will be required to show identification.
