Time is running out to vote in the Press Play Songwriter Contest

Date: August 15, 2022

Only a few hours left to cast a vote for your favorite song.

Area songwriters submitted 17 different songs in a variety of musical styles including rock, rap and country.

Topics range from the joys of shrimp boats and summers at the beach to the struggles people have encountered due to COVID-19. They deal with love, and they deal with loss. Some are funny while some may cause a tear or two. One even pays homage to the Garden City.

The voting period opened July 1 and ends at midnight Aug. 16.

People are limited to one vote per day.

At the end of the voting period, the top three vote getters as well as three critic choices will go the finals of the competition. The six finalists will each play a 20-minute set on opening night of Arts in the Heart of Augusta, and the winner will be named at the end of the event.

The winner will receive $500 with a second place prize of $250 and $100 for third place.

So, listen to the songs at  https://theaugustapress.com/music-contest/ and vote for your favorite.
