Richmond County authorities are searching for 26-year-old Tyrese Hammond, who is wanted in connection with a Tuesday morning shooting at the Woodcrest Apartments on the 2700 block of Woodcrest Drive in Augusta.

Authorities say the incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. when Hammond allegedly fired multiple shots from a vehicle toward a group of apartment buildings. According to warrants, a 33-year-old woman was in the line of fire during the shooting.

Deputies reviewed surveillance video that reportedly shows Hammond extending his arm out of a vehicle window and firing shots toward the buildings on the left side of the property.

Hammond faces charges of aggravated assault, possession of a weapon during a crime, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Records show he has a prior felony conviction for possession of a controlled substance in May 2021.

Investigators say Hammond is known to frequent the areas of Amli Way, Lumpkin Road, and Collierwood Way. He is described as 6’1” tall, 150 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

The Sheriff’s Office warns that Hammond should be considered armed and dangerous and urges the public to use caution.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to contact Investigator Britney Jones at 706-821-4850 or any on-call investigator at 706-821-1085 or 706-821-1020.
