The health inspection world grades a score below 70 as failing, and while no businesses received a failing score from March 11-15, two did get scores in the 80s. No Columbia County businesses were inspected this week.

Country Inn and Suites (Food Service), 103 Sherwood Drive, Augusta received the lowest score of 81. Comments included: “observed packaged, precooked eggs in three compartment sink at 73F — was told they had been thawing one hour” and “repair cabinets to be smooth, cleanable. Refrigerators should be commercial grade.”

Other inspector’s comments included: “all employees must have signed employee illness reporting sheet on file and available for inspection — none available for employee working kitchen at time of inspection” and “soap dispenser did not work at time of inspection. Dispenser should be moved to hand wash sink — was over three compartment sink.”

The second lowest score was an 82, and it was received by Tuff Luck 2, 2517 Milledgeville Road, Augusta. Inspector’s comments included: “observed hand wash sink lacking proper hand drying provisions,” “observed potatoes being stacked on floor,” “observed microwave with food residue inside,” and “observed grease buildup on hood of stove.”
