Wayfair, the online home goods store based in Boston, has confirmed its plans to open a new brick-and-mortar location in the Augusta Exchange Plaza.

Locals can pass by the former site of BuyBuy Baby and find the signage and a “coming soon” notice already posted on the building.

Wayfair is known for selling furniture, home and office décor and various home goods from luggage to bath products, clothing and appliances, mostly through its online store. Most of its merchandise is stored and processed through a network of warehouses and delivery centers throughout the U.S., Canada, Germany and the U.K. The closest such logistics center to Augusta is on Newton Bridge Road in Athens.

The upcoming Augusta store will be one of seven Wayfair outlet stores in the U.S., alongside the ones in Illinois, Kentucky, New York, North Carolina, Ohio and Kentucky, and the first Georgia.
