Weather forecasts mostly favorable for Masters Week, eclipse viewing

Date: April 08, 2024

As Masters week begins in earnest Monday, and streams of golf aficionados and casual fans just looking for a good time stream into Augusta, they may be able trade in their umbrellas and jackets for some solar sunglasses.

According to weather.com, this week’s Augusta weather forecast calls for high temperatures in the upper 70s and low 80s for most days with lows hovering around the mid-to-lower 50s and 60s with a good mix of sun and clouds with minimal chances for rain.

In fact, according to the site’s long range forecast, Thursday is the only day with a possibility of rain, and, as of Monday morning, it’s a strong possibility — 100% chance with potential for severe thunderstorms and rain totals close to an inch.

With the first round of the Masters slated to tee off Thursday morning, such a forecast, if it holds, could call for some inclement weather delays and schedule shifting.

Those who attended The Masters in 2023 and 2022 probably won’t complain much about this year’s forecast though, as both the last two years featured wet, windy and chilly conditions throughout much of the tournament.

As for Monday’s forecast for eclipse viewing, it looks promising with sunny skies and a high temperature of 80 degrees. A partial eclipse is to take place in Augusta Monday starting at around 1:45 p.m. with an expected end time of around 4:20 p.m.
