  • 5K Dental Dash – On Saturday morning, from 8 to 11 a.m., the Dental College of Georgia will be hosting a 5K Dental Dash at the Augusta Canal Lake Olmstead Trailhead, near Lake Olmstead Stadium. Located at 2 Milledge Road, in Augusta, the event will benefit the Give a Smile program, a student-led organization committed to transforming lives through improved healthcare. The mission of the Give a Smile program is to bridge the gap between financial limitations and proper dental care to ensure that every patient at the Dental College of Georgia receives “the treatment they deserve,” according to an email from Augusta University. To register for the run or donate, please visit: https://www.augusta.edu/giving/dentaldash.

“Prevention is the best. Flossing and brushing your teeth are important,” said Prajakta Shreeram Kulkarni, assistant professor at the Dental College of Georgia. “Going to see a dentist at least once every six months is important, and a lot of people can’t afford that this bridges the gap for them and gives them an opportunity to seek oral care.”
