Shepeard Community Blood Center Schedules Blood Drive July 12
Shepeard Community Blood Center will hold a blood drive from 1:30 to 6:30 p.m., July 12, adjacent to the main terminal building of Augusta Regional Airport.
The first 30 donors will receive a Shepeard travel blanket. All donors will receive points in the Shepeard donor store that can be redeemed for gift cards or T-shirts.
Summer blood shortages have been compounded in part by the increased demand for blood products as elective surgeries that were postponed from 2020 are now being scheduled.
“Shepeard is the community’s local non-profit blood center that supplies blood products to several
local hospitals, including University Hospital, AU Healt, and the Children’s Hospital of Georgia. When you donate with Shepeard, you are truly giving back to your community. Help save up to three local lives,” according to a press release.

Girl Scout Events Planned
The Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia have several upcoming event.
Have a s’more or two and reminisce about fun times at Girl Scout Camp as part of National S’mores Day Aug. 10. Camp Tanglewood on Columbia Road will be open from 5 to 6:30 p.m. take a tour and have those treats.
Tuesday, Aug. 3 is open house night at both Columbia and Richmond County elementary schools. The Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia would like to have someone at every school as a representative for Girl Scouts to distribute membership information. To volunteer, contact Briana Stutts at bstutts@gshg.org. All materials will be provided for applicants. Open houses will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in Columbia County and noon to 6 p.m. in Richmond County.

The organization also needs help delivering flyers and displaying yard signs in yards, businesses or churches.
Aug. 28 is Camp Tanglewood Clean Up Day.
“We will be trimming bushes, pulling weeds, moving tables, hanging lights, cleaning up a trail, and whatever else is needed to make Camp Tanglewood look great. Start time around 8 a.m. until about 3 p.m.,” according to a news release.
United Way Kickoff Tickets On Sale July 12
The United Way of the CSRA will kick off its annual fundraising campaign with a luncheon Monday, Aug. 23 at the Bell Auditorium,
