Golden Harvest Food Bank Holds Food Distribution Event
The Golden Harvest Food Bank will hold a mobile market food distribution from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, July 24, at its 3310 Commerce Drive location.
Golden Harvest hopes to provide an influx of nutritious food to Richmond County residents, which is one of the counties with the highest rate of food insecurity in the food bank’s service area, according to a news release.
Anyone who is a Georgia resident is welcome to attend. To receive food, community members will be directed by volunteers to form a line as they drive up. Volunteers will place the food in the trunks of incoming vehicles. Those coming to pick up food are asked to arrive in a vehicle with the trunk empty and to bring a government-issued photo ID.

Golden Harvest has provided more than 16 million meals across its 25-county service area since COVID-19 began affecting the community. The food bank is still seeing an increased need for food due to the economic impacts of the coronavirus in Georgia and South Carolina.
“As our community strives to recover from the impacts of COVID-19, food assistance needs remain elevated as families work to rebuild their lives,” said Amy Breitmann, executive director of Golden Harvest Food Bank. “To help address this elevated need, we have opened back up volunteer opportunities at all of our locations. We depend on our community partners, donors and volunteers to help us in the fight against hunger.”
Golden Harvest Food Bank had 1,100 volunteers serving per month prior to the pandemic and is now inviting members of the community to get involved again. For more details, visit this website.

Airport Looking to Partner With Non-Profits
The Augusta Regional Airport wants to partner with local non-profit organization events through its AGS Sponsorship and Charitable Contribution Policy.
The airport hosts several public events, as well as providing sponsorship funds for local, not-for-profit organizations that host community events.
Augusta Regional Airport’s Aviation Commission adopted a Sponsorship and Charitable Contribution Policy in an effort to support other local events around the area.
“The airport is a civic partner and regional asset,” said Herbert L. Judon Jr., Augusta Regional Airport’s executive director. “It is very important to us to provide facilities and monetary support for various events. These events provide the airport with local brand recognition, the chance to promote the airport’s amenities and, most important, the opportunity to be of service to our community.”
