On Westside’s next drive, a wide hike was missed by quarterback Brian Green, and the Warriors took advantage as they recovered the ball.
No points came of the turnover though, so the score remained 6-0 going into halftime.
The Patriots got things going in the third quarter on a 31-yard pass from Green to wide receiver Kaleb Hutchinson.
Westside worked their way into the redzone, and running back Xzavier Green scored on a 6-yard touchdown run. Sean Medcalfe kicked for the extra point, and the score was 7-6.
Towards the end of the third quarter, Jefferson County answered on a 45-yard pass from Vaughner to wide receiver Marques Whigham to put them right on the 10-yard line.
The Warriors forced themselves to the 1-yard line, and with a minute left in the third quarter, running back Nick Jordan ran the ball in for a touchdown. The 2-point conversion was no good, so the score was 12-7.
During a Westside possession in the fourth quarter, B. Green fumbled the ball, but X. Green snagged the ball before it hit the ground and ran the ball 23-yards to the 3-yard line. On the next play, X. Green ran the ball into the endzone. Medcalfe’s kick was good again, so the score was 14-12.
With 2:09 left in the game, Westside’s running back Hannible Simmons intercepted a Jefferson County pass as the Warriors were trying to drive down the field towards the endzone.
With less than 30 seconds left in the game, Jefferson County had a last chance to score in their last possession of the game, but another Patriots’ interception by wide receiver JerMichel Ambrose took away the Warriors’ opportunity at a comeback win.
