Westside blanked Glenn Hills 39-0 on Friday, Sept. 24, on the road at the Spartans’ home stadium.

Glenn Hills received the ball first, but went three-out, giving the ball to Westside early in the quarter.

The Patriots drove downfield on their first drive and scored with a 1-yard rush by quarterback T.J. Price. Kicker Sean Medcalfe added the extra point make the score 7-0 with 7:32 remaining in the first quarter.

Westside got the ball right back after a fumble by Glenn Hills on the kickoff, giving the ball to the Patriots in scoring territory. Price drove the Patriots downfield and ran in another short yard touchdown. Medcalfe made the extra point to put Westside ahead 14-0 early.

The Glenn Hills offense struggled to get anything going the entire game, and the defense could not stop the Patriots rushing attack.

Running back Xzavier Green capped off the first quarter with a 5-yard run for a touchdown, giving the Patriots the lead 21-0 going into the second quarter.

Both offenses were shut down until towards the end of the second quarter. Westside continued to pound the ball, and Green added his second touchdown of the half with 2:26 remaining in the second quarter. Medcalfe missed his first extra point of the game, making the score 27-0.

The Patriots continued to get to the quarterback with three sacks in a row on the Spartans during their next offensive drive. Westside blocked the punt on fourth down at the 1-yard line for a safety to make the score 29-0 at the half.

Green finished off his performance with a 5-yard run for a touchdown in third quarter, giving him three touchdowns on the game.

Due to the lopsided game, the officials decided to let the clock continue to run the entire fourth quarter.

Westside’s (3-2) next game is against Josey (1-3) Oct. 1, and Glenn Hills (0-3) also plays next Friday at home against Jefferson County (3-2).
