Columbia County saw widespread damages Friday following Hurricane Helene hitting the CSRA.
Cassidy Harris, public relations manager for Columbia County, said the damage is widespread throughout the county, from Martinez to Appling Winfield, there are reports of downed trees, downed power lines and houses with damage.
County Manager Scott Johnson released a video statement saying Columbia County was one of the counties hit the hardest from Hurricane Helene. A statement from the county asked citizens to report any hazardous conditions and to stay off the roads. It was added that crews were working to restore power as quick and safely as possible.

On Thursday night, citizens could stay at Patriots Park if they felt they needed better shelter. Cassidy said that 10 people utilized it overnight Thursday into Friday.
Crews spent most of Friday assessing the damage and clearing trees so power could be restored to citizens.
There was no estimated restoration time for power to be turned back on. According to the Georgia Power outage map, as of 3:50 p.m. on Friday, there are over 65,000 customers in Columbia County without power.
The National Guard came in to work with roads and bridges and help Columbia County clear the roadways following the hurricane.
