Williston man dies in two-vehicle collision on Charleston Highway

A tragic two-vehicle collision on Charleston Highway near Clippership Loop claimed the life of a Williston man Wednesday afternoon.

The accident occurred at approximately 1:40 p.m. Wednesday when a 2013 Ford Escape, traveling west on Charleston Highway, crossed the centerline and collided head-on with an eastbound 2006 Chevrolet Malibu.

The driver of the Chevrolet, identified as 46-year-old Brian Corley, was rushed to Wellstar MCG, where he succumbed to his injuries at 3:53 p.m, Coroner Darryl Ables said. The driver of the Ford was also transported to the hospital for their injuries.

Corley’s body will undergo an autopsy in Newberry as part of the ongoing investigation. The Aiken County Coroner’s Office, in conjunction with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
