Winter storm bring chilly Christmas

Date: December 24, 2022

A winter storm is bringing extremely cold temperatures and winds to the Augusta area that will continue at least through Christmas Day.

Highs for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are predicted to hover in the 30s with cold winds from the west, according to the Associated Press.

More than 200 million people, or about 60 percent of the U.S. population, were under some sort of winter storm advisory on Friday, Dec. 23, when more than 5,000 flights were canceled nationwide, according to the Associated Press. At one point, more than a million homes and businesses were without power.

Temperatures should begin to warm again by Monday and could reach the 60s by the weekend lead-up to the new year.
