A Jefferson County woman has been charged in connection with a fatal hit-and-run accident that killed a cyclist early Monday morning in Richmond County, authorities said.
Kyania Lashawn Graddy, 23, of Wrens, was arrested Tuesday and charged with vehicular homicide in the death of 42-year-old Jolene Davis of Augusta. According to investigators, Davis was riding her bicycle northbound on Peach Orchard Road near Willis Foreman Road around 4:44 a.m. when she was struck from behind by a vehicle that left the scene.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:32 a.m., according to Coroner Mark Bowen.
Graddy faces multiple charges, including first-degree homicide by vehicle, hit and run (leaving the scene of an accident with serious injury), and following too closely.
She was booked into the Charles B. Webster Detention Center with a bond set at $12,640.
A Facebook page for Graddy shows she is the mother of two young children. She has a previous speeding charge from Richmond County in 2022, which led to a $100 fine and 12 months of probation.
