Woman shot Friday afternoon in Augusta; suspect in custody

A woman was shot Friday afternoon on Butler Manor Drive and Morgan Road in Augusta, authorities said.

Richmond County authorities responded to the shooting at 1:16 p.m., where the woman was suffering from more than one gunshot wounds. The victim was rushed to Wellstar MCG Health, and the injuries were not expected to be life-threatening, authorities said.

“Officers on scene were able to take one suspect into custody and a second” was detained, sheriff’s Lt. james Kelly said in a press release.

No other information was released Friday.
