The barrels, pipe and dug-up streetscape haven’t loosened their grip on downtown Augusta streets.

In the latest report Monday, the intersection of Reynolds and Sixth streets was said to remain closed to through traffic for utility work through Tuesday.

On Sixth Street, grinding old asphalt around the railroad track running through the street was expected to start Friday and continue for two weeks. Lane closures and detours were to remain in place as the grinding machine made its way south to Walton Way.
According to Friday reports, Fifth Street concrete work was to continue on the northbound side, with flaggers closing lanes during business hours.
On Greene Street between Third and Second streets, the inside lanes were to remain closed for two weeks for storm drain and traffic signal work.
On Broad Street between 11th and 12th streets, underground utility work by Georgia Power contractors was expected to continue with sections of sidewalk and roadway edges to remain closed.
On 13th Street, the outside lanes will remain closed while brickwork at several intersections continues.
On Telfair Street starting July 29, underground pipe work was progressing.
Outside lane closures will continue for the next few weeks as demolition work continues at the 11th Street intersection. Telfair between 10th and 11th streets would be closed to all traffic for underground piping construction.
The downtown drainage, sidewalk and resurfacing projects began in the last decade with a set of bridge projects.

On Greene Street in Old Towne, westbound Greene was to be closed between Second and Fourth streets for several weeks.
The projects are being paid for by the 1% Transportation Investment Act sales tax, first approved by voters in 2012.
