World War II vet celebrates 100th birthday

Oscar Ray Barney Jr. marked his 100th birthday June 7 quietly, celebrating with family.

A larger event was cancelled at the last minute due to unforeseen circumstances.

The Augusta Press featured Barney for his 99th birthday in June 2021 and shared his story again as part of a Veterans Day special section on Nov. 11, 2021. For those who missed the article, it can be found here.
