More apartments are coming to the downtown area. The former handkerchief factory at 943 Ellis St. is being transformed into livable spaces. The space was built in 1939 and has been known more recently as the frame for the “Augusta, I Love You” mural. More on this story to come.

A new restaurant has debuted at 2801 Washington Rd. in Augusta. Kung Fu Crab House is serving up Cajun seafood. The new spot has lunch specials with boiled seafood and various seasonings like lemon pepper and garlic butter. Fried baskets are available as well. They are open seven days a week. Champion Home Builders acquired ScotBilt Homes, who in 2020 shipped more than 1600 affordable homes from its manufacturing hub in Millen, GA. to several states across the southeast.

Longstanding Marketplace Antiques is closing its doors. The used antique shop is located at 1208 Broad St., in-between Craft & Vine and International Uniform. At press time, it is yet unknown what will become of the location. More to come on this.

Callaway has officially acquired TopGolf, including the location in Augusta near Costco and Cabela’s.

The Top Golf in Augusta has thrived since its opening in July of 2020. Its success has continued throughout the pandemic, limiting patrons to six per bay and introducing protective screens between each bay as well. It remains to be seen what visible changes, if any, will come as a result of Callaway’s acquisition.
