Two men were killed Saturday night after crashing into a building after the driver failed to stop at a stop sign on Hephzibah McBean Road, authorities said.
Robert Allen Salter, 62, of Hephzibah, and Joshua Campagnari, 18, of Jackson, were pronounced dead at 2 a.m. Sunday after the coroner’s office arrived.
“They were in a vehicle traveling east on Hephzibah McBean Rd. and (Salter) failed to stop, crossing over Mike Padgett Highway,” Coroner Mark Bowen said in a press release. “Vehicle came to final rest after striking a building.”
Campagnari was a passenger. The coroner’s office requested an autopsy, but the GBI declined.
The relationship between the two men is unclear, but the coroner said the teen may be a friend of the family. The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the wreck.
