Columbia County Chamber Golf Tournament
The Columbia County Chamber of Commerce is ramping up advertising for its 17th annual golf tournament, sponsored by Classic Collision.
The tournament is Oct. 18 at West Lake Country Club. Both morning and afternoon tee times are still available. A team of four players costs $1,100.

Sponsorship costs are as follows: Premier Sponsor, $2,500; Corporate Sponsor, $2,000; Driving Range Sponsor, $1,500; Hole Sponsor, $400; Volunteer Shirt Sponsor, $1,000; Player Gift Sponsor, $2000.

Augusta Metro Chamber Women in Business Luncheon Taking Place Sept. 21
Join the Augusta Metro Chamber and Melissa Furman, founder and consultant at Career Potential, LLC to learn about how business environments continue to change and become more diverse. This session will provide practical recommendations to enhance communication skills.

Furman’s passion for guiding individuals with career, professional and leadership development inspired her to launch Career Potential to help individuals achieve and organizations succeed. As the owner of Career Potential, Furman provides consulting and training services in addition to delivering highly engaging sessions at state, national and international conferences.

She served as the assistant dean and currently serves as a faculty member at the James M. Hull College of Business at Augusta University. Furman has served in a variety of roles at universities such as Emory University, the University of Georgia, Georgia Tech, University of North Carolina and Johns Hopkins University.

Member Economic Luncheon on Sept. 29 to Feature Multiple Business Leaders
The Augusta Metro’s Member Economic luncheon Wednesday, Sept. 29 is subtitled “From Pandemic to Sansdemic – Where Are All the Workers?”
During this moderated panel discussion, Cal Wray of the Augusta Economic Development Authority will discuss the latest on our region’s workforce demographics, particularly the extent of the idle or non-participating workforce.
Dr. Jermaine Whirl, president of Augusta Technical College, will talk about programs and opportunities that provide training, credentials and education at the high school and post-secondary levels, as well as “up-skilling” opportunities. He will also speak on programs designed to improve the entry level worker experience thus creating better worker retention.
Brittany Burnett with United Way of the CSRA will offer insight on the economic costs associated with meeting the needs of the underemployed and unemployed populations.
Mary Hayes of WorkBay will share lessons learned at the national level on the behaviors and attitudes of entry level job-seekers and how to improve resources at the local level to engage potential workers with greater success and create better employer/employee satisfaction.
